The ci...ty of about 120,000 people is located in the southwest corner of Ukraine about a 4 hour train ride from Lviv, where we were living last year. We are close to the Hungarian and Slovakian borders and the Carpathian mountains surround us. Mukachevo is in a valley and the Liatorytsia river runs right through it. In the 1800's this area was a part of Hungary. Mukachevo is mainly made up of Ukrainians but many Russians and Hungarians that live in the city.
As we prepare to move we are collecting softball equipment for a new outreach that Josh and Isaac are planning to organize for local youth. We will also continue to collect backpacks, school supplies, winter gloves, and Legos for orphans and children in need. Our missionary team is devoted to children's ministry outreach in the gypsy villages near Mukachevo. There are four gypsy camps with groups of children from 40 to over 200.
We are renting a large 5 bedroom house close to the church, and we are looking forward to inviting mission minded friends to come visit and serve with us. Please pray for Jesus to lead us, that we could be His heart and hands to the people He calls us to love. Pray most of all that our whole family would be a source of God's love, mercy and grace in the community that we are going to serve.
